King's Academy builds homes for Mexico's homeless

The Sunnyvale-based Christian school sent 100 students and 20 adult leaders in 12 vans south of the border April 23-27 to assist a Tijuana ministry in building homes and offer other kinds of assistance to an ostracized Indian tribe. The group included 33 students from Los Altos. The school has been making annual treks to Mexico the past four years.

Improved access to magazines is available through InfoTrac 2000, a computerized database It includes indexing and abstracts for more than 800 magazines and full text for more than 400 magazines. Kiwanis Special games to be held at De Anza College June 2

About 500 boys and girls from 30 schools are registered to compete in short track events, slaloms, obstacle courses, and specially designed games like bean bag toss, skittle bowl, hit the can, and softball and Frisbee throws. The students are placed in groups with similar abilities and separated into wheel chair, walker, etc. Last year over 500 students participated.

Pinewood Jets soar to victory

This year over 2000 schools nationwide participated in the competition, which asks high school students to solve problems similar to those that would be encountered in a college engineering course. Solutions are evaluated by a team of judges at the state level, with the four highest teams advancing to national scoring, where they are assessed by a second group of judges.
