Free Rancho pancake breakfast to benefit P.T.As

printer friendly version Print this story

For the 36th straight year, Rancho Shopping Center merchants will donate a free pancake and sausage breakfast to their neighbors to benefit the Parent Teacher Associations of seven local elementary schools.

"Rancho Round-up," as the traditional event is known, will be held between 8 a.m. and noon, Saturday, June 3, on the center lawn area of center, located at Foothill Expressway and Springer/Magdalena roads in Los Altos.

In addition to the breakfast, merchants have donated more than $2,000 in merchandise prizes that are given away to winners of the prize list drawing. The prize list features a $500 Rancho shopping spree, a framed, autographed lithograph of 49ers quarterback Steve Young and a $100 gift certificate for Rancho's newly proposed Andronico's Market. Tickets for the drawing are being sold by children and parents of the seven local elementary schools which use the proceeds to purchase outdoor and in classroom equipment no longer funded by the schools themselves. Participating schools are Almond, Bullis, Loyola, Montclaire, Oak, Santa Rita and Springer.

Entertainment is provided by the Mountain View High School Jazz Band, guitarist Gulliver Spring, Jay the Juggler. Exhibits are also featuring the Pacific Ridge Pony Club, the Rolling Hills 4-H Club and the Santa Clara Country Guide Dog organization. A "glue-in" is provided for the younger children by the Los Altos Parent Pre-school.

The seven schools received more than $12,000 as a result of the 1994 ticket sales effort, according to Rancho organizers. For information about Rancho Round-up and where to purchase tickets for the drawing, call 948-4964 or 941-4158.
