Children of Los Altos are encouraged to enter in the "Why I Love My Los Altos Dad" Father's Day Contest, sponsored by the Los Altos Village Association.
Kids in age groups 3-4 years, 5-7 years, 8-10 years and 11-13 years are eligible to win fun prizes for themselves and their dad's in time for Father's Day. All entries must be hand-written, one-page essays (50 words or less) stating what makes your Los Altos dad special.
Dennis Ronberg of Linden Tree will select the winners.
Entries may be picked up beginning May 31 at the following business locations: Adventure Toys, 173 Main St.; Discovery Shop, 142 Main St.; Lin's Toy Cupboard, 237 A State St.; Linden Tree, 170 Main St.; Los Altos Card & Party, 253 Main St.; Los Altos Pharmacy, 295 Main St.; and Marion Jackston, 163 Main St.
All entries must be returned to any of the above participating locations no later than today. Winners will be notified by the following Monday. All entries will be displayed in the above store front windows through Father's Day, June 18.
Four children in each category will win: Daily Grind Smoothie, Italian Deli Soda & Sandwich, Kahn's Pharmacy Gift, Linden Tree $10 (gift certificate), Lin's Toy Cupboard (gift certificate), McWhorter's (gift certificate), United Studios of Self Defense (free lesson ). The four lucky dads will be eligible to win by a random drawing one of the following: Al's Barber Shop hair cut, Applewood Pizza certificate, $75 Adobe Animal Hospital gift ceritificate, Baskin Robbins gift ceritificate, Body Care Massage (one hour), $25 Los Altos True Value Hardware gift ceritificate, Takara Johnny Cotton shirt, or Town Crier one-year free subscription.
