printer friendly version Print this story

Jocelyn Anne Wiener, a graduating senior at Los Altos High School, has been selected as a 1995 Presidential Scholar.

The Presidential Scholars Program was established in 1964 to recognize and honor our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Wiener is one of two Presidential Scholars from California, selected from more than 2,600 semi-finalists nationwide.

Selection of the Presidential Scholars is based on scholastic and/or artistic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability, service to the community and strong character and commitment to high ideals.

Wiener has been invited to Washington, D.C., from June 20-25 for the Presidential Scholars National Recognition Week. The 1995 Scholars will participate in a week of activities, including panel discussions, receptions, performances, seminars and the Presidential Medallion Ceremony at the White House.

The scholars' travel, lodging, meals and ground transportation are provided by the United States Department of Education and the White House Commission on residential Scholars.

Wiener will attend Stanford University this fall.
