printer friendly version Print this story

The town of Los Altos Hills budget for the fiscal year 1995/1996 was approved by the City Council June 21. The total operations budget is $2,981,270, a 5.5 percent increase over the 1994/95 budget.
  • The largest appropriation is assigned for police services. The end

of year estimate for 1994/95 is $477,000 and the budget for 1995/96 is

$500,850, a 4.6 percent increase.

  • The Finance Department reflects a budget increase of 26 percent due to an

increase in labor costs of 43 percent, the results of a three month overlap of

the finance officer position and an upgrading of the position responsibilities.

  • A 67.3 percent insurance budget increase due to an increased premium for

the Town's policies and a decrease in ABAG's equity distribution.

  • A 38.9 percent increase in the street fund due to the reallocation of crew

time and the addition of line items such as garbage pickup and street striping.

Also two new full-time positions are included in the budget.

The city manager's budget reflects an 18 percent decrease in the overall budget with a 28 percent decrease in labor. This is due to the new city manager also filling the role of city engineer.

After the council approved the budget on a 4-0 vote (Casey was absent), Mayor Bill Siegel said,"We did a lot better than the State of California."
