Chamber golf tourney

set for Aug. 21

Plans are under way for the sixth annual Los Altos Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament scheduled for Aug. 21 at the Los Altos Golf and Country Club.

Golf committee co-chairman Joe Renati and Joe Leal are looking for volunteers for the tournament and corporate sponsors for the event.

Entry fee for the day-long tournament is $155 prior to Aug. 1, then $175 and includes green fees, cart, lunch and a special dinner catered by Armadillo Willy's. Prizes will be awarded for a hole-in-one and to the winners of the longest drive, closest to the pin and putting contests.

'Summer Fun' window

display winners announced

Patt's Greeenhouse was declared the winner of the Los Altos window display contest "Summer Fun" sponsored by the Town Crier and the Los Altos Village Association. The winner received a dinner for two at Armadillo Willy's Barbeque.

Second prize was Beaugay's School of Dog Grooming, and third prize was Salon Elizabeth.

Judging was completed by Los Altos resident Dana James, a graphic artist and member of the city's arts committee. Sponsors thanked all contest participants.

Residents help dedicate

new Samsung headquarters

Samsung Semiconductor recently dedicated a new building and entry plaza at its headquarters site in San Jose. Influential in the development of Samsung are local residents Yong E. Park of Los Altos, who is senior vice president of engineering, and Joseph Barrera of Los Altos Hills, who is senior vice president of Samsung Microwave Semiconductor.

Official opening

for Journey Junque

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Journey Junque will take place Thursday during the July Los Altos Chamber of Commerce mixer at the newly opened travel accessories store in Rancho shopping Center.

All chamber members are invited to attend the function in the Rancho Shopping Center. Journey Junque carries travel accessories, books, maps, luggage and gift items. The ribbon-cutting will be held at 5:15 p.m. with the mixer following at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 941-6411.
