Rodoni, 12, and nine other talented singers and dancers will bring their "Disney Dazzle" revue to the Gilroy Garlic Festival this weekend. Kidz on Tour, which also features Mountain View resident Joanne Amato, will belt out numbers from "The Lion King," "Beauty and the Beast," "The Little Mermaid" and "Aladdin." Besides the garlic fest, the Kidz have also appeared at the Los Altos Arts & Wine Festival, Los Gatos Strawberry Festival and Big Thunder Roaring Camp. Rodoni, who has performed in local plays for five years, enjoys the positive crowd reaction at Kidz' 20-minute concerts. Singing "The Lion King" tunes is his favorite part of the show. As for Amato, a self-proclaimed "ham," she likes all the songs and loves being in front of people, especially kids. The 14-year-old has been in the local theater spotlight for five years, taking the stage with such companies as Los Altos Conservatory Theatre, Los Altos Youth Theatre and TheatreWorks. She aspires to be a professional actress. But for now, she's having fun with the Kidz. "My friends are in it. And it's cool to travel and meet a lot of people." Showtimes in Gilroy are at 9:30 a.m. and noon Friday, Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call (408) 978-7726. - Andy Nystrom |
