This 57-unit condominium project for seniors will be constructed by Webcor Builders on a 2.4 acre site on the corner of Edith Avenue and San Antonio Road. After four years of negotiating with the city and the planning department and working with surrounding property owners, construction is ready to start. Webcor has scheduled ground breaking for Aug. 21. "First a rental (house) needs to be demolished," said Bob Nicholus, marketing director for the Los Altos Parc Regent. "Then we can dig a hole - a big hole - big enough for underground parking for 108 cars." A second, ceremonial ground breaking, is planned for September, said Kerry Boyd, marketing manager of Webcor Builders. "We want to invite the people who have reservations, all the city officials who have helped us, and have a chance to say thank-you," Boyd said. The condos will be built in two phases. Twenty of the 25 units in phase I are currently reserved. Boyd expects that people will be able to move into the phase I units by July of 1996. Webcor Builders built the new Chartwell condominiums in downtown Los Altos on Third Street and Edith Avenue. The pink Victorian building on the edge of the Parc Regent property, next to De Martini Orchard and former home of the De Martini family, houses the sales office for the Parc Regent. It will be demolished once phase I is completed. |
