WATERWORLD: Kids ages 6 and up can try out for the Los Altos-Mountain View Aquatic Club at Eagle Park in Mountain View between 5-6:30 p.m. Sept. 18-20. The program, which runs year-round, offers practices Monday-Friday and scheduling is flexible. For more information, call the LAMVAC office at 428-1269.

ADD SWIM: Girls and boys ages 5 and older are invited to try out for Solo Swim Club's fall team Sept. 15 from 4-4:30 p.m. (last names beginning with A-M) and 4:30-5 p.m. (last names beginning with N-Z). Swimmers must be able to proficiently perform the overarm crawl. Free tryouts will be held at Burgess Pool, 501 Laurel Street, Menlo Park. The first month's fee at the club is $45. YOU MAKE THE CALL: Qualified basketball referees are needed for junior high and adult city leagues in Mountain View. Junior high games begin at 3:30 p.m., city leagues at 7 p.m.. For more information, call Rocky at 968-9545.

The City of Mountain View Recreation Division also needs officials for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening adult hoops games at the Mountain View Sports Pavilion and Whisman Sports Center. For more information, call Eric at 903-6404.

MV REC SCENE: The City of Mountain View Recreation Division gets its adult volleyball, basketball and badminton seasons underway in September and October.

Volleyball - organizational meeting 7 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Mountain View Community Center, 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. Registration begins Sept. 11 (season starts Oct. 19); cost is $235 per team.

Basketball - organizational meeting 7 p.m. Sept. 6 at the community center. Registration begins Sept. 11 (season starts week of Oct. 16); cost is $420 per team. D, C and women's leagues available.

Badminton - games are played from 5-7:30 p.m. every Sunday beginning Sept. 17 at the Whisman Sports Center, 1500 Middlefield Road in Mountain View. Cost is $2 per visit or $10 for 10 visits; open to Mountain View residents and employees of Mountain View businesses.
