Gerald R. Schoonhoven

A resident of Los Altos since 1971, he was employed by Fairchild Semiconductor Corp. for 15 years, eventually becoming general manager of Fairchild's Optoelectronics Division. At the time of his death, he was vice president and senior partner of the Thomas Group Inc. in San Jose.

Angelo Semino

After graduating from Stanford University in 1922, he was a mechanical engineer for 25 years, eventually forming his own company with three partners in Southern California. On his retirement, he and his wife moved into Pilgrim Haven where he remained until his death.

A chief with the United States Navy, he was a member of the Shriners, Sunnyvale Shrine Comics, American Legion, The Fleet Reserve and the Peninsula Widow-Widowers Association.

Marina Yvonne Sigafoose Marina Yvonne Sigafoose, a native of Taiwan, died Aug. 22 in her home in Fremont. She was 40.

She is survived by her husband of 13 years, James Sigafoose of Fremont; a daughter, Patria Sigafoose; her parents, Arvid and Helen Maurine Hamer of Los Altos; and her grandmother, Ruth Hamer of Los Altos. The funeral was held at Berge, Pappas Smith Mortuary in Fremont. Inurnment was at Irvington Memorial Cemetery.

Emilie K. Reinbold Emilie K. Reinbold, a native of Germany, died Aug. 25 at Pilgrim Haven in Los Altos. She was 101.

Private family services were held under the direction of the Mountain View Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries.The family prefers donations be made to the charity of choice.

John B. McDevitt, NASA scientist instrumental in space program

National Aeronautics and Space Administration scientist John B. McDevitt died Saturday morning at the age of 71, leaving behind a legacy of pioneering aeronautical research. He contributions included designs for two wind tunnels and experimental research that represented some of the earliest work in transonic aerodynamics. In recognition of his contributions to the nation's space program, NASA presented Mr. McDevitt with an American flag that was flown aboard the Space Shuttle in 1981.

"A lot of our customers need very minor repairs or adjustments on their jewelry, or perhaps some cleaning," said Connie Seidel, head goldsmith for the jewelry business, located at 388 Second St. "They always want to pay us for these services but we don't ordinarily charge for them.
