The group traveled to San Francisco each day for five days from Mountain View via Caltrain and MUNI.The girls learned how to get around in San Francisco using Caltrain, MUNI cable cars, ferries, and BART, each handling their own maps, transit tickets, and fares. Sight-seeing included: Alcatraz where they saw where convicts escaped through a roof vent, Colt Tower, the Exploratorium, Presidio, Fort Point, Hard Rock Cafe, Chinatown, United Airlines Maintenance Center, the Bay Model and "Phantom of the Opera." The grand finale of the week was an overnight at the Fort Mason Youth Hostel, sea kayaking in Sausalito, and the Sausalito ferry back to San Francisco. Most of the girls will be continuing in Cadette Girl Scouts as part of a new troop beginning this fall. Girl Scouts offers age-appropriate adventures for all girls from kindergarten to grade 12.
