Los Altos Sister Cities, Inc. honored and officially welcomed Tanya Koleseva and Natasha Chuprova to Los Altos at an Aug. 17 reception.

Tanya and Natasha are college students from our Sister City of Syktyvkar, Russia. These ambitious and hard working women participated in the summer International Work Education Program administered by Foothill College.

Tanya and Natasha are being home hosted by Gunn and Ernst Jensen, of Los Altos. Natasha spent the summer working as a day camp counselor with the Mountain View YMCA. She worked with young children at Oak School.

Tanya kept busy working at the Le Boulanger in downtown Los Altos. Both women attend the Syktyvkar Pedagogical Institute where they are training to become teachers of English. Nastasha also speaks her native tongue, Komi. The Komi Republic, of which Syktyvkar is the capital, is named after the native Indians of this northland.

Los Altos has had a Sister Cfty relationship with Syktyvkar (Sic-tiv-car) since 1989. For more information about Los Altos Sister Cities or Syktyvkar call Richard Fimmel, president, at 948-0733.
