So far, the serial rapist, who has assaulted women in Menlo Park, Palo Alto and Sunnyvale since Aug. 21, has hopscotched over Los Altos.

The Los Altos Police Department issued a safety bulletin to help decrease a person's chance of being a victim.

At home, use deadbolt locks, install a peep hole in the door and report suspicious people and vehicles to the police.

On the street, walk confidently, use the buddy system when jogging or walking and walk facing traffic to make it harder for someone to drive up from behind.

While driving, always lock the doors, have keys ready when heading to a parking lot and park in well lit areas.

These are just some of the tips from Noreen Sorg, Los Altos Police community service officer.

A member of the Los Altos Police Department is serving on a county task force which is assisting Palo Alto, said Los Altos Police Detective Tracy Gurecki.
