Barrett, Shimp

Cori Bea Barrett and Eric Lee Shimp announced their engagement to be married in September 1996.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Chuck and Nancy Barrett and Cindy and Stan Klein, all of Los Altos. She is a graduate of Los Altos High School and California State University at Chico with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She is employed in Internal Communications at United Parcel Service. Barrett previously worked with the Los Altos Town Crier as a reporter.

The groom-to-be is the son of Bud and Connie Shimp of Kona, Hawaii, and formerly of Los Altos. He is a graduate of Awalt High School in Mountain View and served in the Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Smith, Hawaii. He is the co-owner of Skip's Place in Los Altos.

The couple plan to live in the Bay Area.
