The six stories, "The Wooden Egg," "The Nearly Tragic Tale of Silly Slumpshuffle," "Waiting for Oompa," "Jarviss Fidget and Tower of Sand," "Talkalot" and "A Crystal Flute," are not only sensitively narrated, but also therapeutic in nature. Each fable invites, almost challenges, us to penetrate our unconscious in order to reflect upon the real meaning of our existence. Clinical assistant professor Roberta Temes said, "These gentle, insightful fables are clever springboards to our spiritual selves. Each encourages recognizing the transitions in life. Yet, each entertains." Assisting Rogers in calling upon body, mind, and spirit to help rediscover the joy of the adult journey is co-author Karolyne Smith Rogers, who received numerous awards for both writing and the implementations of substance abuse preventive programs. The two women and their gift for storytelling, coupled with the gentle guidance of reflection, are perfect matches for LauraMedia Psychology Books for Healing and Hope. The San Diego-based company now boasts of several dozen similar self-discovery texts for the individual as well as the family. "A Weaving of Wonder - Fables to Summon Inner Wisdom," which retails for $12.95, can be found in local bookstores. To order a copy, call 1-800-FOR-LURA.
