BEACH BOY: A.J. Sehorn III, 10, of Los Altos recently won both the surfing and boogey board 12-and-under competitions at the 4th annual Big Stick Dukes Kids' day at Manresa State Beach in Aptos. The Loyola Elementary School fifth-grader, who surfs for Los Altos' Big Stick Surfing Association and the United States Surfing Federation Western Region, also finished in the finals of the Santa Cruz Long Board Union Memorial Day Invitational in May. Sehorn next surfs in the Big Chill Oct. 14 at Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica.

BIG NUMBERS: In its first two games, Foothill College's football team has whipped opponents Contra Costa (47-20) and Sierra College (48-13). Offensively, quarterback Jonathan Crosswhite has completed 36 of 50 passes for 624 yards and 11 touchdowns; wide receiver Andy Holland has 20 catches for 366 yards and six touchdowns. The Owls next play Monterey Peninsula College 7 p.m. Saturday at home.

GOALLLLL!: Mountain View High will kick off its annual Thanksgiving "Just for Fun" indoor soccer tournament Nov. 24-26. Boys and girls teams from ages under-8 to under-14 play in a round-robin format with each squad guaranteed three games. Entry fee is $90 per team for up to 10 players, and $9 extra per additional player. Depending on age group, teams consist of 6-7 players. To enter, by Oct. 14, or for more information, call 964-4955 or 964-7410 (evenings). All proceeds benefit the school's athletic programs.

PITCHING IN: The Los Altos American Little League T-Ball program recently celebrated the completion of its 1995 season with an award ceremony at Rafferty's Pizza, which donated trophies for each player. "We are lucky to have such a supportive community. Merchants like Elton Towner at Rafferty's can really make the difference. We cannot thank him enough," said David Gloski, volunteer T-Ball commissioner.
