Lt. Brian Dupin recently completed his first carrier cruise about 50 miles east of Sarajevo, and returned to the United States on the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Dupin, a Homestead High graduate, is an FA-18 pilot with the strike-fighter Squadron 87 Golden Warriors. He is the son of Bill and Penny Dupin of Los Altos, and is married to Cynthia Chamberlain of Los Altos. The couple live in Jacksonville, Fla.

Army Pvt. Maria D.C. Nocedal Padilla has graduated from a chemical operations specialist course at Fort McClellan in Anniston, Ala. The course taught the operation and maintenance of smoke-generating equipment and nuclear, biological and chemical identification/detection and decontamination equipment. Padilla is the daughter of Fernando Nocedal and stepdaughter of Celina Nocedal of Los Altos.

Navy Lt. James L. McReynolds has departed on a six-month overseas deployment aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill as part of the USS Independence Battle Group. McReynolds, a 1983 Los Altos High graduate, is one of 450 sailors aboard the cruiser, which departed Yokosuka, Japan, along with four other ships. He is the son of Thomas and Barbara McReynolds of Los Altos.

Susan L. Ginn received practical work in military leadership at the ROTC advanced camp at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, N.C. The camp, attended by cadets normally between their third and fourth year in college, includes instruction in communications, management and survival training. Ginn, daughter of John Ginn of Los Altos and Cindy Ginn of Lyndeborough, N.H., is a student at Princeton University.

Army Capt. Mark J. Boyd has arrived for duty at Youngsan Garrison in South Korea. Boyd, an assistant brigade operation officer, is the son of Sandra Rappaport and Ronald Boyd of Los Altos. He is a graduate of Los Gatos High, University of California at Los Angeles and received a master's degree from Webster University in Texas.
