"It's so important to give back to our community, and through the United Way, many of us can help the more than 100 agencies that make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate in Santa Clara County," said Joe Leal, chair of the Los Altos/Los Altos Hills chapter. The mission of the United Way of Santa Clara County is to take a leadership role in improving the community's health and human care environment to achieve a stronger, healthier community. United Way of Santa Clara County is an independent and autonomous nonprofit organization which raises and distributes funds in support of needed health and human care services in Santa Clara County. Last year in Santa Clara County, 69,000 seniors received health and human care services and 10,000 children received attention and child care from funded day care services.
