BOWL BOUND: In football, Foothill College (8-2) will take on Solano (7-3) in the Santa Cruz County Lions Bowl 1 p.m. Saturday at Cabrillo College in Aptos.

On the season, quarterback Jonathan Crosswhite has completed 160 of 297 passes for a school-record 2,561 yards and 31 touchdowns. Also on offense, David Lewis has carried the ball 201 times for 1,069 yards and 12 TDs, and Andy Holland has caught 53 passes for 1,030 yards and 10 TDs.

Foothill closed out Coast Conference play Nov. 18 with a 27-9 win over rival De Anza.

HOCKEY HONORS: The Los Altos High field hockey team may not have won the Central Coast Section title again this year, but it is tops at hitting the books. The Eagles' combined grade-point average of 3.6 bested all other field hockey squads.

The Eagles are: Megan Cassidy, Helen Chiang, Yue-Han Chow, Julie Collinson, Leslie Dawson, Karen Finch, Lea Jaeger, Katie Johnson, Cheryl Lee, Lisa Maino, Malia Perreira, Sabrina Quintero, Anne Rippetoe, Megan Slocum and Ani Youatt.

TWISTIN' IN SAN JOSE: Led by Coach Megan Daniels, Twisters' Special Olympics squad will participate in an invitational competition beginning 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the California Sports Center in San Jose.

The eight-member team, who has been practicing its routines since late September, will perform amongst 40 athletes from around the Bay Area. Events include floor exercise, balance beam, vaulting and uneven bars.

"These athletes are our inspiration. Every day, they progress further and further in their skills," Daniels said.

VOLUNTEER CALL: The Santa Clara County Special Olympics will hold a new volunteer orientation meeting 7 p.m. tomorrow at Los Altos High, 201 Almond Ave., Room 216.
