Claranne Long, of Los Altos, has been named to the 1995 Foundation for HOPE Holiday Auction Committee. The Foundation for HOPE is a seperate fund-raising arm of HOPE Rehabilitation Services, an organization which provides services to people with disabilities. The holiday auction will be Nov. 12, 4:30 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose.

Pat and Mitchell Mann were given a party by Pam Page and Bob Rudd Oct. 29 at their Los Altos Hills home. The party was held in honor of the Manns moving to their winter home in Scottsdale, Ariz. Local residents attending included Lance and Sue Walden, Art and Ellie Zias. Out-of-town guests included Harry Murray and his fiance Ursula Fisher.

Jeff Miller and Nic Tjader of Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 33 have been ordained as Eagle Scouts. Both boys have been friends since elementary school and currently are sophomores at Mountain View High School. The two were honored in an Oct. 24 ceremony at Los Altos Methodist Union Church.

Miller's Eagle project involved designing and building several storage cabinets, shelves and a rolling cart for the Extended Child Care Center at Santa Rita Elementary School in Los Altos. Tjader's project involved building three 6-foot redwood planter boxes for Almond Elementary School's Pig Pen Day Care Center.

Kathleen West of Los Altos, a sophomore biology student at Denison University, has been selected to serve as an admissions tour guide. A 1994 graduate of Mountain View High School, West is one of 52 guides who were selected by faculty, staff and former guides and then run through a rigorous training process.

Jennifer Lui and Christopher Mar, a duo piano team representing District II of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT), captured a Superior Performance Rating in a Nov. 11 competition. They will be presented in an honors concert Jan. 20 at the Annual CAPMT Convention in San Diego.

Lui is a sophomore at Monta Vista High School, and Mar is an eighth grader at Cupertino Junior High School. Their teacher is Jan Edwards of Los Altos.

Lori Crawford and Pat Jackson of Mountain View were honored as two of the YMCA of Mid-Peninsula's Distinguished Service Award recipients at the organization's annual Red Triangle Award Dinner on Nov. 2 at Hyatt Rickeys in Palo Alto. The Distinguished Service Awards are presented annually to the outstanding volunteer from each of the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula's five branches, as well as one from the association board. Crawford was honored by the El Camino branch, Jackson by the Page Mill branch.
