Marilyn Steffan Birmingham

Marilyn Steffan Birmingham of Lake Forest, Ill. a former resident of Mountain View for 20 years died Nov. 10. She was 62.

She attended primary school in Sacramento and graduated from McClatchy High School in 1951. She received her college education from the Highland School of Nursing in Oakland. Her nursing career began at the Children's Clinic at University of California, Los Angeles. The early years of her marriage were dedicated to raising her five children.

In 1974, she opened her own business, the Antique Needle, at Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park. The shop exemplified her love of teaching and enabled her to showcase her sense of creativity and style.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Donald J. Birmingham of Lake Forest, Ill. and children Mary Susan Birmingham of Lake Forest, Ill., Moira-Shannon Birmingham of San Francisco, Meghan Birmingham Leader of Pleasant Hill, Maureen Birmingham Freeman of Lake Bluff, Ill, and Donald J. Birmingham II of Fort Collins, Col.

A family service was held Nov. 14 at the Church of Saint Mary in Lake Forest.
