Ellsworth, a native of Hawaii, died at his home in Los Altos, Nov. 20. He was 82.He lived on University Avenue in a home located near the entrance to what is now the Jesuit Retreat. He attended Los Altos Grammar School and graduated from Mountain View High School.During the Depression, he worked for the California Conservation Corps making trails in the Big Sur Park area. In 1946, he started his own business, Triple E. Plumbing. Mr. Ellsworth's plumbing company prospered in the middle of the construction boom in Los Altos. He moved his business to a lot in a bean field on El Camino near the corner of San Antonio, which is now part of the San Antonio Shopping Center. Mr. Ellsworth occupied the site for more than 30 years. Mr. Ellsworth was a member of the Little Brown Church of Los Altos and an active community leader of the Boy Scouts of America, Little League and Kiwanis of Los Altos. He also was a 50-year member of the Masonic Temple of Redwood City. Mr. Ellsworth is survived by his wife, Barbara Ellsworth of Los Altos, and sons Douglas Ellsworth of Los Altos, Stephen Ellsworth of Los Gatos, and Shelden Ellsworth of Los Gatos. He also is survived by a brother, M.E. Hersom of Woodland, and sisters, Ellen Hart of Burbank, Miriam Temple of Laguna Hills and Jean Frick of Medford, Ore. Memorial services were held at the Union Presbyterian Church of Los Altos. The family prefers donations to the MidPeninsula Hospice, 65 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, 94025. |
