printer friendly version Print this story

The Los Altos Parent Preschool (LAPP) will hold its annual get-acquainted night at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 10 at the preschool, operating out of the United Methodist Church, Foothill Expressway and Magdalena Avenue.

Teachers will talk about the school's history, child-centered philosophy and curriculum. Current parents will share their experiences and will answer questions while prospective parents explore the facility. In addition, beginning Jan. 8 and extending throughout the month, prospective parents and their child can observe an actual day in class, from 9:30-11:30 a.m. A reservation can be made to visit classroom sessions for 3-year-olds with teacher Denny de Harne (Tuesday/Thursday) or for 4- and 5-year-olds with teacher and LAPP director Keiko Hayashi (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).

Beginning Jan. 3, appointments for classroom observation and RSVPs to the get-acquainted night can be made by calling Jeanne von Gunten at 941-7147. Von Gunten can answer any questions about the program as well.

LAPP is a cooperative preschool, involving parents in all areas of the school's operation. It provides a structured learning experience for parents as well as children. Involvement, support, and understanding of the child's development promotes a positive environment, both at school and at home. LAPP is now in its 41st year and is sponsored by Mountain View-Los Altos Adult Education.
