LAHS student awarded for volunteer service

Anne Rippetoe, a junior at Los Altos High School, has been named the recipient of the "Assisteen of the Year" award.

Assisteen Auxiliary, sponsored by Assistance League of Santa Clara County, gives local teen girls the opportunity to become volunteers.

Rippetoe, a straight-A student, is active in student government. As an outstanding athlete she made the under-16 all-state field hockey teams, was sophomore athlete of the year, as well as academic athlete of the year. All the while, she has taken an active leadership roll in various Assisteens volunteer activities, and served on the Assisteens board.

The Assisteens Auxiliary is open to all girls eighth grade through senior high. During 1994-95, members contributed 2,209 volunteer hours to Assisteens projects.
