The Los Altos Senior Center is located at the Hillview Community Center, 97 Hillview Ave., in Los Altos. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 948-7483. The Mountain View Senior Center is located at 266 Escuela Ave., Mountain View. For more information, call 903-6330. Following is a list of special events for the month:

Los Altos Senior Center

Friday: 1 p.m., armchair travel, with slides of Hong Kong shown by Adell Kaspar. Kaspar will discuss some of the changes that could occur with the takeover by mainland China in 1996. Shown in Room 12. Refreshments served.

Jan. 12: 1 p.m., movie, "While You Were Sleeping," showing in Room 11. Romantic comedy stars Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman. Popcorn served.

Jan. 19: 1 p.m., January birthday/bingo party in Room 11. An afternoon of bingo, singalong and birthday cake. If you have a January birthday, sign up at the center by Jan. 17 for a reservation. If any senior would like to sponsor a party for a specific month in 1996, call Anna Marie Janky at 948-7483.

Jan. 26: Noon, January luncheon with lemon chicken, fried rice, Chinese mixed vegetables and ice cream sundaes. Margie and Aldo Bin will provide entertainment. Sign up for the event by Jan. 24. $3 with Activity Card, $6 without.

Mountain View Senior Center

Jan. 8: 3-4 p.m. Coordinating Council update. A reception to welcome new officers and a thank you to outgoing officers. Refreshments while you meet the new officers.

Jan. 10: 3:30 p.m. The Crittenden Middle School students will help prepare Valentine cards for local seniors. A fun party with refreshments.

Jan. 14: 2-4 p.m. The Kountry Kickers will provide line dancing. Cost $1 per person.

Jan. 18: 11 a.m. to noon. Meet the Senior Center staff, learn about activities and programs offered. Refreshments will be served.

Jan. 21: 2-4 p.m. Sunday Dance. Enjoy the country sounds of Jim Pitt's "Over the Hill" band performing real country western music. Cost $3 per person with refreshments.
