William John Starr

William John Starr, a native of Berwyn, Ill., died Nov. 17 at his residence in Los Altos. He was 78.

He moved to Los Altos in 1964 and worked as a warehouse manager for Sunset Books and retired in 1988. His favorite pastime was golf and he made three holes-in-one at Blackberry Farm.

He is survived by his wife, Anne Starr, of 55 years; daughter, Kathleen Bates of Fresno; son, Michael Starr of Union City; and brother, Richard Starr of Menlo Park .

Vigil services were held Nov. 20 at St. William Catholic Church in Los Altos and a Mass Christian Burial was held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos under the direction of the Los Altos Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries.
