'Don't Let It Fall' cleanup effort starting Feb. 10

The Los Altos Village Association and Chamber of Commerce will co-host the first "Don't Let It Fall" cleanup effort of the year at 8 a.m. Saturday in the downtown Community Plaza, intersection of Main and State streets. The event will kick-off "Random Acts of Kindness Week" nationally.

The idea of gearing the clean-up with Random Acts of Kindness Week began last November when LAVA officials were approached by Los Altos resident Mary Cunneen-Lion, who is spearheading activities locally for this celebration. Le Boulanger is donating coffee and muffins for the effort and Los Altos residents Bob and Nancy Moore are getting their neighborhood fired up about helping out that day.

The Los Altos Garbage Company will also be debuting a motorized cushman and workers who will be emptying garbage cans and generally cleaning the area every Saturday and Sunday starting that weekend. Currently, there is no weekend garbage pick-up downtown. This extra service will be provided to the city at no cost.
