Los Altos lecturer to describe day in the Life of the Renaissance

printer friendly version Print this story

Los Altos art history lecturer Kay Payne will describe everyday life of a typical citizen of Florence and Venice in the 15th century - the Italian Renaissance. The lecture will be held 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 in the Community Room of the Los Altos Main Library, 13 S. San Antonio Road. The library and the Los Altos Arts Committee are co-sponsors. Payne's popular talks usually inspire standing-room-only attendance, so early arrival is suggested.

How did a nobleman, a craftsperson, a statesman, a mother of small children, a business person, spend their days in 15th century Italy? How did they eam their living? What did they see and hear in their cities? What kinds of food did they enjoy? What occupied their family life? Payne, a well-respected lecturer and docent for fine arts museums in San Francisco, will offer answers to these questions.
