Leaders discuss future of Silicon Valley at June conference

CEOs and national leaders will discuss the future of Silicon Valley at the second annual Silicon Valley Business and Leadership Conference, sponsored by Foothill College, June 6 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View.The one-day conference, organized by Foothill College Community Services Dean Richard Henning, features Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of State; Ann Richards, former governor of Texas; Jack Kemp, former U.S. Congressman; Richard Dreyfuss, actor and activist; Larry King, talk show host; and noted authors John Naisbitt and Rosabeth Moss Kanter. Beach Blanket Babylon and humorist Rich Little will provide entertainment for the day.King will moderate an interactive panel discussion, "Vision 2000 and Beyond," featuring: Ed McCracken, president/CEO of Silicon Graphics, Inc.; Gilbert Amelio, chairman/CEO of Apple Computer, Inc.; Becky Morgan, president/CEO of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Network; Naisbitt, author of Megatrends Asia; and Kanter, professor of business administration at Harvard Business School."In response to comments we received last year requesting a focus on business in Silicon Valley, we decided to bring some key leaders and business experts together for an interactive panel discussion that will also give the audience an opportunity to ask questions," Henning said. "The wide variety of expertise our speakers bring this year promises to give us an in-depth view of how our Valley fits into the global economic picture."Corporate sponsors for the event include Wells Fargo, Silicon Graphics, Tencor, Tandem, the Churchill Club and the San Francisco Chronicle. Proceeds from the event will help fund a new technology Center for Innovation and Interactive Learning at Foothill College.The conference, now in its second year, includes continental breakfast, lunch and a networking reception with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. Tickets for the event are $225 each if purchased before May 15, 1996, then $275. Corporate blocks of seats are available at special discounts. No tickets will be sold at the door. Parking is free.
