Los Altos Hills artist Jean McCandless will display her oil paintings and sculptures in the Los Altos Hills Council Chambers Sunday through May 31. A reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the chambers, 26379 Fremont Road.McCandless' oil paintings and sculptures are large, abstract and colorful, and some reflect on Asian influence as a result of working with the celebrated artist Kishi. Bronze sculptures run the gamut from small realistic figures and animals to pure abstraction. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University and did graduate work at the University of California at Berkeley and the San Francisco Art Institute. She has exhibited her work in solo exhibits as well as many group exhibitions. Many of her works are in private collections and public buildings.
