Local students have been accepted in the California State SummerSchool for the Arts (CSSSA). The students accepted into the creativewriting section are: Bonnie Chan of Egan Intermediate,Edward Hsu of Los Altos High School, Verna Hsu ofEgan Intermediate, Emily Huang of Los Altos High School,and Kelly Zuckerman of Los Altos High School. These students,along with the 14 others selected from the Santa Clara County,will be honored in special ceremonies during May and June in observationof Arts Scholars Recognition Day, which the California State Legislaturehas designated as May 31.

Library begins 'Vision 21' fund-raising campaign

The Los Altos Main Library has beguna campaign to raise $300,000, to upgrade the resources of thelibrary in science, technology and medicine (STM). Through a generouschallenge grant, the David and Lucille Packard foundation hasagreed to match community contributions. For every $2 raised,the Packard Foundation will contribute $1. Already hard at work,the fund raising committee has successfully received gifts orpledges totaling more than $43,000.
