A trail trial is an obstacle course for horses and riders in whichcompetitors are judged on how safely and smoothly they negotiatedesignated obstacles. All competitors are judged against a writtenstandard. For this competition, the standard will be the CSHAtrail trials program rule book. The Temblor Trail Trial course winds over the San Andreas Faultand allows participants to enjoy panoramic views, forest trailsand terrain varying from flat and easy to steep and challenging.They can reserve a catered barbecue lunch, and compete for prizesand ribbons. The competition is open to all equestrians, with divisions foradvanced to novice horses and riders, junior and senior riders,and schooling, for riders or horses who are getting familiar withthe event. Entry fees for the seven- to eight-mile ride are $21 for pre-registrationfor adults 18 and over, $25 on the day of the ride. Under-18 juniorsare $15 for advanced purchase, $20 on the day of the ride, andschooling is $15. A drug test fee is included in all entry fees. The ride registration desk will open at 9 a.m. There will be arider's briefing at 10 a.m. and the first rider will take to thetrail at 10:15 a.m. Judging and scoring of the competitors willbe done by experienced volunteers. Members of Responsible OrganizedMountain Pedalers (ROMP) will serve as course marshals, crossingguides and score card messengers.
