New Webmaster to help local groups get on-line

Carol Watts has assumed the newly created position of Webmaster for Los Altos Online.

Watts, a 20-year Los Altos resident, is designing a new process for putting issues of the Town Crier on the Los Altos Online home page for viewing on the Internet's World Wide Web. But she said her primary focus will be helping local community organizations get onto the Internet.

A member of the League of Women Voters, Mountain View-Los Altos branch, Watts first came to the Town Crier last year expressing interest in building a home page for the League. That interest evolved into helping other non-profit groups establish themselves in cyberspace.

"My intent is to set up all the procedures so that other people can know how to do them," said Watts, who retired from IBM three years ago after a 28-year career. While at IBM, Watts held a variety of positions, from programmer to systems engineer data base specialist.

Watts has spent the past month in search of an efficient way to put Town Crier issues on the Los Altos Online.

She feels it's important to get the newspaper on-line. "It's the main drawing card of what's on Los Altos Online," Watts said.

Organizations interested in getting onto Los Altos Online can contact Watts by e-mailing her at cwatts@losaltosonline.com or leaving a message at the Town Crier, 948-9000, ext. 318.
