Before the board voted, the Construction Overview Committee (COC) held a meeting to advise the board of its findings regarding classroom renovations for the fall at Mountain View and Los Altos high schools. The COC found that the cost estimates were higher than anticipated for all the work planned. "We want to determine what the actual total cost would be for all the planned renovations before making a final decision," said Bob Grimm, chairman of the COC. "Not all the budgets for renovation projects were available at the time of the meeting." It was decided until all the information was available and assessed there would be no decision on the building of the prototype classrooms until the Aug. 8 meeting. "We need to get a handle on all the budgeted projects so that we can make the best decisions," said Don Phillips, district superintendent. Some of the budgeted fall projects are: the building of prototype classrooms while classrooms are being renovated, new science buildings and library improvements. "All the classrooms will be renovated, the question is when it will be able to be done," Grimm said. The fall phase is the second is a series of construction and renovation plans funded by Measure A bond funds. Currently underground electrical work is being completed. |
