Participants will depart Oct. 5 and return Oct. 16. Optional pre- or post-tour stays in Great Britain may also be planned. Theater productions under tour consideration include British stars Eileen Atkins, Vanessa Redgrave and Paul Scofield in "John Gabriel Borkman;" the hit Jerry Herman musical romance, "Mack and Mabel," based on American silent film stars Mack Sennett and Mabel Norman. Manley's tour may also include visits to London's flagship theater, The Royal National and important "fringe" theaters such as the Almeida and the Royal Court. Tour members stay at the Marlborough Hotel, located in Bloomsbury, close to Covent Garden and the theater district. All-inclusive land cost for the tour is $2,499, with optional, round-trip non-stop airfare via British Airways priced at $635. Manley, who is planning the tour, is a drama professor and chairman of the drama department at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills. For more information about the tour, call Manley at 552-4023. |
