Puppet performers

at main library

The Caterpillar Puppet performers are guaranteed to generate giggles. They will be presenting the bilingual puppet show "Pinata" today at 3 p.m. in the Program Room at the Los Altos Main Library, 13. S. San Antonio Road. This 45-minute presentation is for children ages 5 and up.

Come see your own Children's Librarians perform on July 24 at 3 p.m. in the Program Room at the main Los Altos Library. Molly, Sandy and Kathy will be sharing their own brand of winning wackiness with the Summer Readers. This 45-minute presentation is for children ages 5 and up.

'Circles & Squares'

at Gallery 9

"Circles & Squares" is the title of the summer exhibit at Gallery 9, 143 Main St., Los Altos. All of the gallery's member artists will interpret this theme in a group show now through Aug. 24. The exhibit will include paintings, etchings, monotypes, photography, sculpture, weaving, basketry, ceramics and jewelry.

Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Expert talks

Russian politics

Mary Arnold, a former resident of the Soviet Union, will review the recent Russian elections and future runoff election during a lecture set for noon today at the Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center, 655 Arastradero Road, in Palo Alto.

Arnold, a political expert and educator, will discuss the impact of the Russian election on the United States and the free world.

The public is invited to bring a brown bag lunch. Admission is $4 for non-members, $2 for members.

Loyola Corners

photo exhibit

The Los Altos History House Museum's new photographic exhibit, "Historic Loyola Corners ... Then & Now," at 8 a.m. runs through July 31 in the History House Museum, 51 S. San Antonio Road, behind the Los Altos Library.

The exhibit will open for general viewing at noon until 4 p.m. and on Wednesday from 1-5 p.m.

The museum's Loyola Corner's exhibit will feature photographs of the area in the days of apricot, prune and walnut orchards. Nostalgic photos of Southern Pacific railroad trains stopping at Loyola Corners are sure to rekindle memories of times past. Other photos and artifacts reflecting the first businesses in the area will also be on display for the three-month exhibit.

Olde Towne Band

summer concerts

Ye Olde Towne Band has scheduled a series of Sunday outdoor concerts at Shoup Park, on University Avenue in Los Altos. The concerts, which feature music ranging from marches to popular musicals, are set for July 28, Aug. 25 and Sept. 29. Admission is free.

The band is sponsored by the Sertoma, Quota, Kiwanis and Rotary clubs of Los Altos.
