American Legion post changes meeting time

American Legion Fremont Post 52 is changing its weekly meeting time from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 6. The post meets every Friday at the Elk's Lodge in Palo Alto.

The post will continue to hold its monthly picnic the last Friday of the month. The next picnic is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at Shoup Park in Los Altos.

MV Arts & Wine Festival upcoming

The Mountain View Chamber of Commerce's 25th annual Art & Wine Festival is scheduled for Sept. 7 and 8 in downtown Mountain View.

Highlights include musical entertainment from such performers as the Girl & i, who offer alternative folk music, Opinion, who plays bluegrass, Ed Johnson (jazz and Brazilian music), Wild Kingdom (folk rock) and Modern Radio, a string trio playing popular tunes of the 1930s and 1940s. Also featured will be the Children's Corner, which features face painting from KinderCare Learning Center, pony rides from Little Profit Pony Farm, and art activities from the Community School of Music and Arts. History House offers displays

The Los Altos History House Museum is offering an opportunity to exhibit personal collections. If you are a collector of historic objects or fine art, the History House invites you to share your collection through an exhibit at the museum.

Herbs lecturer at garden club meeting

Virginia Saso, of the Saso Herb Gardens in Saratoga, will be the guest lecturer at the next Garden Club of Los Altos meeting, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. this coming Tuesday in the Creekside Room of the United Methodist Church, 655 Magdalena Ave., Los Altos.

Saso will present a program on using herbs to make attractive culinary and other types of wreaths. The public is welcome to attend.

Federated Woman's Club rummage sale

The Federated Woman's Club of Los Altos invites the public to their rummage sale, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Sept. 7, at the Los Altos Youth Center, 1 San Antonio Road, behind city hall. Proceeds go to charities. For more information, call 390-0794.
