El Camino Hospital assets return to District control following agreement

Culminating months of turmoil and controversy over El Camino Hospital management practices, the Camino Healthcare Board of Directors has approved the transfer of hospital assets back to the District, contingent upon a list of terms. Those terms will be discussed at a 6:30 p.m. public meeting this Thursday in the hospital cafeteria.

Council says shop around for animal control

The City Council of the Town of Los Altos Hills adopted an agreement for emergency animal control and sheltering services with the City of Palo Alto on Aug. 21, but asked the city manager to find out what alternatives were available.

It's been a struggle for organizers to find a building to house St. Joseph The Worker Job Center, a destination for day workers who congregate along San Antonio and El Camino Real in Los Altos. However, a new site appears promising.

'Grandpa Jim' now facing molestation charges

James Alvin Stiritz, a 62-year-old Los Altos man in custody on charges of attempted kidnapping, now faces an additional 10 felony counts of "lewd and lascivious conduct" stemming from separate incidents in Grant Park involving two 4-year-old girls.

Mother-in-law an unwelcome family addition

I have a wonderful huge and hairy dog and she is always bringing her dog hair pick up brush with her to OUR HOUSE! I don't bring my dog to her house, but I wish she wouldn't try to make the rules at my house. Of course my baby husband won't speak up to her. Phoebe decides our holidays, our vacations (because we have to all go together, of course.) She is a maniac. Worst of all, when she phones and I answer she never says a word to me - just, "Can I speak to my adorable baby boy?"
