Town Crier Staff Report

The entry deadline for the first Hidden Villa photography contest is fast approaching.

Children in three different age groups have until this Friday to enter this contest, which Hidden Villa officials have offered to encourage children and adults to focus on the connection of people to the land and the interconnectedness of people to each other.

Children ages 9-12, teens 13-16 and young adults 17 and over may enter photos in two categories: "Listening to One Another: Celebrating Diversity" and "Listening to Earth: Celebrating Nature."

A panel of judges will select first, second and third place winners in each division for the two categories. Winning entries and selected finalists will be on display in Hidden Villa's Visitors Welcome Center beginning Oct. 20.

The photo contest will be held in conjunction with the first annual Frank and Josephine Duveneck Humanitarian Awards, to be presented on Sept. 28. The Duveneck Humanitarian Awards have been offered to recognize the visionary work and generosity of the Duvenecks by honoring outstanding contributions of those who work toward peace, justice and preserving the natural environment today.

Entry fee per photo is $5 for children, $10 for teens and $15 for adults. For an entry form, call 949-8653.
