Funds totaling $125,000 have bee awarded to the school by The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and The Valley Foundation. A $50,000 general operating grant from The David and Lucile Packard Foundation and a $60,000 two-year general operating grant from The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation will be used to support a number of the school's programs. CSMA's programs include private lessons and classes, after-school art classes and vacation camps, arts-in-schools programs (Arts in Action and Music in Action) and concerts. A $15,000 grant from The Valley Foundation will be devoted exclusively to the school's financial aid program. This program provides: tuition assistance to children ages 5-18 for private music and art classes; work-study opportunities to college-age and adult students; and Merit Scholarships to private music students who have shown exceptional talent and commitment to their studies at the school. "These grants will allow us to enhance many facets of the school, from program and faculty development to financial aid and community outreach to administration and finance," said Andrea Temkin, CSMA executive director. "We are grateful to the commitment of these three foundations for supporting the school whose mission is to ensure that the arts are available to all, regardless of age, ability, cultural background or economic means." |
