Foothill College plant sale

The fall plant sale at Foothill College will be open from 9:30 am to 2 p.m. Saturday in the outdoor classrooms of the Ornamental Horticulture Department. Parking lot T provides close access to the location.

Perennials, orchids, house plants, hanging baskets and holiday crafts are a few of the items weekend gardeners can purchase. Prices range between $4 and $25 per item. Proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the Foothill College Ornamental Horticulture Trust Fund.

Visitors must bring four quarters to purchase a required campus parking permit.

Hanukkah and holiday cycle

A one-day course on "Hanukkah and the Holiday Cycle" is scheduled for 12:30-6 p.m. Sunday at the Albert L. Schultz Jewish Community Center, 655 Arastradero Road, Los Altos Hills.

This workshop covers the yearly holidays by reviewing the original texts and by illustrating the basic features of each celebration.

Cost of the workshop is $35 for non-members, $30 for members and $25 for those 65 and older. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call 493-0563, ext. 254.

Holiday art happening

Los Altos artist Jeane Kluga will hold a "Holiday Art Happening" featuring paintings, wearable art and boutique items, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at her home, 661 Distel Drive, Los Altos.

Kiwanis Club tree lot to open

The Los Altos Kiwanis Club will again be selling Christmas trees in the Bank of America parking lot, 901 Fremont Ave., Los Altos, with proceeds benefiting a host of local community projects.

The club will offer noble fir and grand fir trees ranging from 3-12 feet and also sell decorated wreaths and garlands. The lot opens Nov. 30, and the hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
