School Noteworthies

Kendall Aldous, a science teacher who has been teaching at Los Altos High School for three years, has been named staff member of the month for the month of October. Aldous is originally from Arizona and received her teaching credential from Brigham Young University in Utah. She is a member of the LAHS Site Council, a representative on the district Teachers' Association, a representative on the LAHS Technology Committee, the freshman class advisor, and advisor for the Junior Statesmen of America.

Local students who attend Homestead High School in Cupertino have been named Advanced Placement (AP) Scholars by the College Board in recognition of their achievement on the college-level AP exams. Nathan Brown, Alexa Bruce, Jimmy Chang, Julie Go, Minho Hyun, Tamar Kama, Stacey Kenfield, Samuel Lee, John Lehner, Elaine Lo, John Loo, Mariadelcarm Rodriguezlarrai, Erica Roedder, Christine Tong, Harvey Vrsalovic, Dennis Wong, Jeffrey Wong, and Hank Wu received the AP Scholar Award.

Linda Ho, Jordi Honey Roses, Kevin Kan, Joshua Kashinsky, Yanda Ma, Chethan Ramachandran, Darlene Wong, and Yuda Zhu receive the AP Scholar with Honor Award. Clifford Chen, Andrew Chu, Eli Groppo, Spencer Peng, Asaf Shor, Gabriel Tang, and Nick Vossbrink received the AP Scholar with Distinction Award. Spencer Peng also received the AP National Scholar award.

Mountain View High School departmental students of the month have been announced for the month of October. These students are: Ryan Damm in the social science department; Carla Walters in Avid; Peter Ruano in the math department; Elizabeth Klemm in the science department; Shantonu Sen was another in the science department; Jill Toby in drama; Kurt Cole in the library; Daniel Clemens in the music department; Manuel Aragon in the career center; John Gonzales in the technical department; Jose Vargas in the vocal music department; Noel Zamora in the English language department; Lindsay Goines in physical education; Mary "Margarita" Kelly in Spanish; Alyssa Fastabend in the art department; and Amy Schlegel in the special education department.
