The district also announced its open enrollment is currently in effect until March 1. Local students have the opportunity of switching high schools inside the district for the 1997-98 school year. District policy establishes an application period each year for students to request a transfer to either of the district's two comprehensive high schools. The option is available only to students living within the district boundaries. "Each year we provide both parents and students an opportunity to change to one of the other high schools within our district. We're confident that each school has a series of excellent programs that meet or exceed the academic and social needs of our diverse student population," said Associate Superintendent Brigitte Sarraf. Transfer requests will be considered on the basis of space availability, enrollment caps, limits on the size of each school's freshman class and caps set by the Board of Trustees to assure ethnic and racial balance at each school. Parents may pick up an application at either of the district's two high schools or at the district office, 1299 Bryant Ave. in Mountain View. All applications for the 1997-98 school year must be postmarked by March 1, 1997. For more information, call the district office at 940-4650. |
