She previously served as president in 1993 and was chair of Measure A, the district's $71 million school facility bond measure passed by 81 percent of the voters in June 1995. James was elected at the board's annual organization meeting Dec. 10. Trustees also elected Emily Lee Kelley as vice-president and Roberta Pabst as clerk. Barry Chang was appointed legislative chairman. A graduate of San Jose State University, James was first elected to the board in 1989. She spent 11 years in private industry and has experience in personnel management, recruiting, evaluation, employee relations and labor law. |
