They used to have ladies night at a lot of night clubs, but I haven't noticed one advertised lately. They were usually crowded and noisy, but you could sometimes find an empty seat at the bar next to a woman who liked to talk.

When the process server pushed the subpoena into my hand I felt ambushed. The motto at the Town Crier is that we're easy to do business with. So when I heard a woman say, after she'd bought some back issues of the paper, "Could I speak to Joanne Griffith Domingue?" I came out of my cubby, put out my hand, and said, "Hi, I'm Joanne."
