Los Altos Hills City Manager Jeff Peterson gave a six-month progress report on town goals at the Jan. 15 council meeting.

Some of the policy issues Peterson listed with the status report are:

Assess ramifications of the newly adopted fire codes on the town.

The staff is writing a policy that establishes minimum driveway widths. Purissima Hills and Cal Water have been requested to provide system-wide water pressure and fire flow information to the town staff.

Finalize the policy on accepting existing private streets.

The City Council discussed the maintenance and construction costs of private streets, and the staff is assembling information on them, particularly on those where residents expressed interest in their streets becoming public.

Relocate the town's yard waste center if curbside yard waste pickup is not a viable option.

This objective remains on hold until the town assesses the garbage company's proposal for curbside yard waste pickup. Council expects a proposal for review by late February.

Analyze building and planning fees concurrently in relation to the cost of providing the services.

The planning director has conducted preliminary analysis of costs. The staff anticipates further review in the next 30 to 60 days.

Develop better communication with residents about important town issues.

A committee is reviewing possibilities.

Develop a long range maintenance and replacement program for the town's sewer system.

No progress has been made on this objective. The staff will work on this in the third quarter.
