Kirstin Chantalat, a junior at Los Altos High School, has been selected to attend a seven-day leadership program at The American University in Washington, D.C. from July 12-18. The program is sponsored by the National Student Leadership Foundation.

Lynn H. Wang of Los Altos has been accepted by Youth For Understanding (YFU) International Exchange as an exchange student. Wang will live with a family in France on the YFU 1997 summer and tour program.

Michelle L. Younkin, daughter of Susan and Derek Younkin of Los Altos, has been inducted into Sigma Xi, a scientific research society.

Veronica Corinne Pfister of Los Altos, Robert Chin Tam of Mountain View, Kevin Goonyoung Toh of Mountain View, and Bich Loan Tran of Mountain View were announced to be degree candidates for the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor law school.

Julie Marie Sobczyk of Los Altos, a senior in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska Lincoln, was honored as Superior Scholars for having grade point averages in the upper 3 percent of their colleges or for being on the honors list since entering as freshmen.
