PTA awards handed out to local teachers

The Los Altos-Mountain View PTA Council offered a number of awards at their annual luncheon held May 7.

Gail Brunnings was the recipient of the Continuing Service Award. The Honorary Service Award went to the Youth Peer Court, and the Very Special Person Award was given to Gerri Carlton. The council also awarded 11 Ardis Egan Scholarships, honoring 11 teachers.

The recipients, who will use the scholarships for their continuing education, included Susan Thomsen, speech and language, Landels School; Laura Marshall, second grade, Castro; Judith Barnes, kindergarten, Loyola; Gina McDonnell, first grade, Loyola; Jennifer Gosland-Rottler, second grade, Springer; Maureen Reich Svenson, resource specialist, Egan Intermediate; Mark Burpee, seventh grade history and English, Egan Intermediate; Amanda Terry, kindergarten, Oak; Candy Wilke, fifth grade, Oak; Pat Koren, physical education and health, Blach Intermediate; and Christine Strandberg, district physical education.
