For the first time in 25 years, students who were enrolled in the school's continuation program participated in a graduation ceremony complete with caps, gowns and diplomas. Principal Bill Pierce said the time was long past due for a ceremony. "The idea of a ceremony really motivated those who were on the bubble of not graduating to get their work done," Pierce said. Pierce said the ceremony was a powerful experience. The board room at the district office where the ceremony was held overflowed with guests. Interim superintendent John Duncan, the new superintendent Richard Fischer, and several school board members were among those who attended, Pierce said. During the ceremony Eddie Navarro, one of 12 graduates, was awarded the first annual Bill McClintock scholarship. Navarro will apply the scholarship to Foothill College where he plans to study art. |
