And last weekend saw the Mountain View and Los Altos Hills 9-10-year-olds cruise past the first and second rounds in the District 44 All-Star tournament. On Saturday and Sunday, Mountain View hammered Sunnyvale Southern 7-0 and Santa Clara Westside 11-0 to move into next week's quarterfinals. And Los Altos Hills handled Sunnyvale Metro 4-1, setting up a contest with Moreland earlier this week. Check next week's issue for results. On the majors front, Tri-Cities shut out Mountain View 3-0 last Sunday and was to face Los Altos yesterday. Mountain View's Todd Frassetti fanned 14 and allowed four hits, but Tri-Cities' Joe Franklin got the win with a one-hit, 11-strikeout performance. TOC UPDATE: Last issue we left off with two Los Altos minor and major teams battling for spots in the District 44 Tournament of Champions final. Unfortunately, the major Rockies and the minor Black Knights both lost in the semifinals on June 23. In majors play, the Sunnyvale National Cubs were 12-0 victors, and the Black Knights fell 16-6 to the Sunnyvale Serra Phillies. |
